Southampton Puja and Cultural Association announces the first ever Durga Puja, the biggest festival in the Bengali Hindu Calendar, in the Community Hall of the Vedic Society Hindu Temple, 79 - 195 Radcliffe Road, Southampton, SO14 0PS, during September 26-28, 2008.

The festivities start at 6PM on Friday 26/09/08 and will finish at about 10PM on Sunday 28/09/08. In addition to the traditional rituals of offering prayers to the Goddess Durga during the two and half days, two cultural programmes, supported by the Southampton City Council and Kuti's Brasserie, are planned. The first one, performed by the Arts Bengal group of Birmingham, will be during 7:30PM to 9:30PM on Saturday 27/09/08 and the other, a home grown one, will be staged during 3PM-5PM on Sunday 28/09/08. Both the programmes will showcase solo and group songs, recitations and dances among other creative manifestations. The Arts Bengal's programme will also contain a Bengali short-play.

The events are open to all members of public irrespective of their ethnic origin and religious belief. For further information, please contact us via this website
